Custodianship in action

28 April 2026

There’s something special about managing Country using fire. A quiet sense of pride. A powerful feeling of custodianship and care. There is nothing quite like it.

Recently, some of our Towera (fire) crew – Mick Farnham, Rob Baxter, Bryce Baxter, Shay Terrick, Deon Baxter, Jordan Harrison and John Baxter – went out to Moormurng Flora and Fauna Reserve for just this reason.

Fire has always been an important part of our connection to each other, the land and the spiritual world. So, it is an honour to use fire in this way.

Burns like this are guided by knowledge, experience and respect. They are careful, considered and grounded in a deep understanding of how Country responds.

A big thank you to Kobi, Reggie, Ronan and Matt from DEECA for working alongside us on this burn. Strong partnerships like this build the kind of approach that leads to better outcomes for Country.
