Have your say – CATSI Act Review Phase 2 Consultation
30 August 2020
GLaWAC is just one of more than 3,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations around the country who support our community by delivering services and supporting economic development. The regulatory framework and support to these corporations is provided by the Corporations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2006 (CATSI Act).
At the end of last year, Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Ken Wyatt, announced a comprehensive review into the CATSI Act to assess its effectiveness, including as a special measure under the Racial Discrimination Act 1975. The purpose of the review is to determine if the Act can better support opportunities for economic and community development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The CATSI Act Review draft report is now available for review online, and phase two of consultation is open until 31 September 2020.
You can provide feedback on issues raised in the report drafted by the National Indigenous Australians Agency in three ways:
1. By registering for virtual consultation sessions (each session represents a chapter in the draft report)
2. By providing feedback to individual chapters through chapter surveys
3. By filing a submission online.
