Training up, up and away
15 April 2026

Proud of Trey Parsons, John Baxter, and Deon Baxter, who last month completed Mixing and Loading training at the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) depot in Swifts Creek, and the Benambra airbase.
The guys learned to work safely around aircraft and how to mix fire retardant and load fixed winged aircraft.
They can now support Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) air operations, extending our capabilities during emergency bushfire situations and giving us more flexibility when it matters most.
It’s great to be building this capability within GLaWAC to support bushfire response.
A big thank you to trainers Adrian Young and Rick Archer and the wider Gippsland Fire Training team from DEECA, and to pilot Mick Gribble for his aerial expertise.
