Pathways to Partnerships

GLaWAC is proud to announce the launch of Pathways to Partnerships: Gunaikurnai and Major Projects at the Gippsland New Energy Conference today.

In front of a packed audience comprising industry leaders, government officials, and community members, GLaWAC CEO Daniel Miller emphasised the critical role that partnerships play in delivering the best outcomes for Gunaikurnai people, the broader Aboriginal community, and major projects across the region.

“Pathways to Partnerships” outlines a comprehensive approach for project proponents to engage with GLaWAC, beginning with demonstrating respect, building trust, and aligning on shared values of protecting Country and cultural heritage. The pathway continues with developing strong partnerships and culminates in delivering best-practice agreements that secure positive outcomes for all stakeholders.

Following the launch, Daniel Miller participated in a discussion with the Honourable Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy, Climate Action, Energy and Resources, and State Electricity Commission, and Paul Johnson, Regional Engagement Manager for Star of the South, one of 12 proposed offshore wind farms. Together, they reaffirmed the importance of partnerships with GLaWAC in navigating the energy transition.

GLaWAC was well represented throughout the conference, with Katherine Mullett, General Manager On Country, speaking on day two about the significance of Cultural Heritage in major projects. Additionally, Tanya Taylor, General Manager Economic Development, contributed to a panel discussion on the importance of fostering diverse and inclusive workforces.
