Our deadly Katungal program gets national recognition!!!
15 May 2024
We are beyond excited to announce that Professor Bruno David from Monash University has received the prestigious Australian Research Council Industry Laureate Fellowship for “Katungal: Managing archaeological sites threatened by sea level rise.”
The project, a collaboration between GLaWAC and the Monash Centre for Indigenous Studies, aims to map and protect significant cultural sites across Katungal (Gunaikurnai for Sea Country).
By blending Indigenous knowledge with academic expertise, the project aims to predict and monitor the erosion risks of our culturally significant coastal sites. Additionally, it supports Mob to care for Country in new and innovative ways.
This recognition underscores the power of respectful, Tradition Owner led collaborations to achieve ground-breaking research and meaningful impact.
We’re proud to be part of such an inspiring journey. Congratulations Bruno and the whole team!
