14 January 2025

Are you passionate about caring for Sea Country?

We’re inviting Gunaikurnai community members to help shape the Gunaikurnai section of the Nanjet to Mallacoota Sea Country Indigenous Protected Area (SCIPA) and guide its future.

The Role:
The Gunaikurnai Indigenous Protection Area planning group will guide the development of the SCIPA Plan by providing advice in regard to:
– Protection of cultural heritage
– Activities within the SCIPA
– Management of pest plants, and animals
– Creation of future employment opportunities, e.g. Sea Ranger Program

Experience in natural values management and the protection of cultural heritage is desirable.

The group, made up of 4-5 community members and 4 GLaWAC staff, will meet regularly to discuss important Sea Country issues, and Community members will be compensated for their time.

Your voice matters. Bring your passion, experience, and ideas to the table. You’ll collaborate with other community members and GLaWAC staff to ensure Sea Country is cared for in a way that reflects our values and vision.
